Oftentimes when I am counseling or teaching people ask me “where can I learn more?”
Here are some of my favorite books on topics I discuss everyday:
Gut Health & Cooking inspiration for incorporating more fiber
Fiber Fueled Cookbook by Dr. B (a forward thinking gasterenterologist named Will Bulsiewicz). I have checked this one out from my local library several times, I love his Biome Broth recipe and one sweet treat where you make dried dates into something that tastes like Snickers. This would make a great gift for any health enthusiast or home chef.

Blood Sugar management
Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchauspe is a very readable primer about blood sugar! While I don’t always agree with what she says are the root causes of blood sugar imbalances, her info about how diet impacts blood sugar is really helpful and here “hacks” have helped many people I know, with and without diabetes.

Learning about our Microbiome
A Garden in Your Belly: Meet the Microbes in Your Gut by Masha D’yans is a super cute book that I always include in my lessons about our microbiome. It makes a great gift for families.
“Your belly is full of tiny creatures―and they love to eat! Along the river of your gut, tiny creatures move, eat, and grow. Learn more about the garden of microscopic flora growing inside the body and come on a journey that explains an important biological concept: the microbiome, the health of which affects everything in our bodies. Did you know that some foods are better for your microbiome (and you!) than others? Striking, original watercolor illustrations keep things from getting too gross. Informational back matter goes further into the science of the microbiome and reveals amazing facts about the gut.” – Amazon
