Syrah McGivern is a Registered Dietitian living in Medford, Massachusetts. She has extensive experience in community nutrition and sustainable seafood and loves farmer’s markets, gardening, thrift shopping, support local businesses and inspiring people to find out where their food comes from.
She graduated from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy in 2007 where she earned her masters in the Agriculture, Food and the Environment Program under Willie Lockeretz and Kathleen Merrigan.
In 2009, she completed the requirements to become a Registered Dietitian in New Orleans under the auspices of Marsha Piacun at Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
She has been teaching low-income families how to eat better for less with Cooking Matters Massachusetts since 2005.
She serves on the Medford Farmers Market Board of Directors and the Cooking Matters Massachusetts Advisory Board.
