Obviously eating real food is preferred but there is a time and place for protein powders. Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order:

Equip Protein These yummy and high quality protein powders (strawberry, vanilla, salted caramel, iced coffee, peanut butter) contain about 20 g protein per scoop. The cinnamon roll flavor is sweetened with coconut sugar and monkfruit. Most of the other flavors are sweetened with stevia. There is also an unsweetened version. JJ Virgin Paleo inspired vanilla  1 scoop = 10 g protein, 1 g fiber, 1 g fat. Sourced from beef. The sweetener is stevia. I like this vanilla powder in shakes with fruit, or in power balls.

Mikuna Chocho powder This is a minimal ingredient protein from the Peruvian Chocho bean. 1 large scoop (1/3 cup) = 20 g protein, 10 g fiber, 10 g fat. The sweetener is coconut blossom nectar and monkfruit. Because of the fat content is it especially good for kids. I use it in alls kinds of recipes. The cinnamon hortchata flavor mixed with just ice and milk/ milk alternative is pretty nice! You can buy a sample size to try at Whole Foods Market

BPN vegan protein “peanut butter cookie” 1 scoop = 22 grams of protein, 1 gram fiber, 4 grams of fat. The protein comes from peas, watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds and peanuts. It is sweetened with stevia. This one is sweet and satisfying in a smoothie with frozen banana! I buy from Amazon or iherb.com.

Amy Myers MD Paleo protein – 1 scoop = 21 g protein, 2 g fiber, 1 gram of fat. Protein is sourced from beef (collagen). Sweetened with stevia. Available from Amazon but discounted in my Fullscript store or my Dr’s Supplement store accounts. There are many flavors to choose from, including an unflavored version without any sweetener. I blend up the chocolate version with ice, frozen cherries or raspberries, ice and milk. I am excited to try the caffeine free mocha latte flavor next!

Paleovalley – they make so many great products! These are proteins with minimal ingredients. 1 scoop = about 15 g protein (varies by flavor). There are sweet flavors (vanilla, chocolate, caramel) for shakes, desserts and baking. These are sweetened with monkfruit. There is an unflavored version. There is a savory flavor that contains a bunch of powdered vegetables and it is good for adding to soups and recipes, it has Himalayan pink salt added.

Collagen and Gelatin powders from Great Lakes – we make homemade jello in all different flavors!

Collagen from Perfect Supplements.
