My clients are often working on increasing protein in their diet. I get asked at least once per day for recommendations for easy healthy-ish snacks, you know, things we can keep in our purse/ car/ desk at work for when hunger strikes and just need something really easy and quick, and is better than a candy bar.
These are some of my favorite bars and high protein snacks:
These bars are sooo good, they taste like cookie dough! and they have 10 g protein. I like Orgain shakes too, much better alternative to Ensure!

IQ Bars – 12 grams of protein in each bar. My family eats these a lot – they are not too sweet. The cheapest place to buy is at Costco but those are the chocolate flavored variety pack. If you are not a fan of chocolate, try the “Fruit Lovers Variety pack” from Amazon.

These are small, purse sized snack. 6 grams of protein in each little one. Good before/during/after workouts.

Lara Bars These are more of a snack/ treat than a protein bar (only about 4 g protein in each bar). Very good for kids and people with fast oxidation (can think of it like high metabolism) because they are a great source of fat. Just a few ingredients and taste like a treat.

Aloha Bars – these are very good protein bars, providing a sweet treat, with 14 g protein and a decent amount of fiber per serving – they are actually pretty low in sugar. There are many yummy flavors, chocolate mint is a favorite in my household. You might like to try this maple sea salt flavor

New Primal Maple chicken mini sticks
These are easier to eat than jerky. 1 stick = 3 g protein. A lot of kids like them.

Wilde Protein Chips

Frog Fuel protein packets – these are very convenient! 15 grams of shelf stable protein in a gel form that you rip open a squeeze into your mouth. They taste very sweet though, the formulation is made with sucralose which is a sweetener I generally don’t like to recommend consuming regularly but can’t beat the convenience! They taste better frozen than warm.

Built protein bars taste like a candy bar (reminiscent of a 3 Muskateers bar). The protein is sourced from dairy and beef (whey and collagen). One bar contains 17 g protein, no fiber, 3 grams of fat. They make a good dessert!
